Do you ever get that feeling that your home and the tone and atmosphere in it have gone a little bit flat? are you looking for ways to re-energize your home? Perhaps you have been living in the same place for a long time and have exhausted all the options you have at hand. Perhaps you have just moved to a new place that doesn’t possess quite the vibe that you are looking for. Perhaps you have just moved in with a partner and want to make the place feel more like a joint home than ‘theirs’. No matter what kind of atmospheric change you are looking to create, there are a number of things you can do. Here are some great ways to re-energize your home.
1. Increase Natural Light
You know how getting outside into the open air can make you feel much better when you are feeling down? Well, the same logic applies to cheering up a house! Daylight is precious and more infrequent in these winter months, so you should try to arrange your décor in order to increase the levels of natural light as best you can. This can be done with clever mirror placements that will work to bounce light around rooms. You could even go so far as to install some skylights if you are able. This is definitely one of my favorite ways to re-energize your home.
2. Clean up
There is nothing that saps a home’s natural energy like clutter and mess. Do you know why it feels so fresh and exciting when you go to a hotel? It’s because the rooms are always spotlessly clean and free from too much clutter! Take a weekend to really go all out on the spring cleaning front and make your house as spotless as you can.
3. Back to Nature
Bring as much nature inside your home as you can, it can have a really calming effect. This can be done very easily by buying houseplants and beautiful freshly cut flowers to decorate the place. The energy of these fresh, living things in your home will certainly add to the positive energy.
4. Be Bold
Sometimes a house can lose its energy because you aren’t being brave enough in your décor choices. Too many neutral colors and sensible patterns can lead to boredom, so perhaps test out a single room with more vibrant and bold designs. I’m certain that you will feel an immediate change in energy for the better. Pops of color usually manage to raise a smile.
5. Fresh Perspective
It might be the case that you simply need to be given a fresh perspective on what your home and its decor can really be. One way to start to explore these different possibilities is by getting into the ancient art of Feng Shui, an Oriental technique that explores the different effects rearranging the furniture in different ways can have on both a room’s and energy and your own energy. You would be completely surprised at just how dramatically different a room can feel just by making a few small changes with big implications.
