1. Stinky Trash
It's common, isn't it? Yet, it's annoyingly difficult to get rid of that stinky smell that stays even after you've emptied your trashcans. Simply prepare a mixture of hot soapy water and wash your trashcans with it. This will help get rid of smelly bits and debris. You may also consider placing a used fabric softener sheet right at the bottom of your kitchen trashcan to absorb odors.
2. Stinky Microwave
Do you always find it difficult to get rid of that awful stench of burnt popcorn that seems to stick around forever? You can fix the issue by mixing three chopped lemons and a fragrant spice (cloves or star anise) in 1 ½ cups of water. Boil this mixture in your microwave and make sure you don't get it out for 15-20 minutes. The steam will help eliminate any stench in your microwave.
3. A Pungent Kitchen
You no longer have to put up with the smell that's everywhere in your kitchen while cooking cabbage, fish, or other sharp-smelling items. A simple fix is to place a bowl of white vinegar on the stove. This will absorb all the odor.
4. Smelly Rugs
It's just impossible to ignore smelly rugs. Don't make your rugs get all the attention for all the wrong reasons. A simple solution is to sprinkle some baking soda on them before vacuuming. Be sure to let baking soda settle properly into the fibers before you use your vacuum cleaner.
5. Smelly Pet
You won't always have time to give your beloved pet a bath to make it smell sweet. When there's no time, a quick fix will work just fine. Take some baking soda and sprinkle it on their fur. Let it settle a bit and then brush out.
6. Funky Smelling Room
You don't know why, but you sure can smell something funky in your room. A quick fix is to get a bowl of white vinegar and place it in the offending room for a few hours. It is one of the best ways to get rid of icky smells.
7. Stinky Armpits
Yes, the best thing is to go take a bath and deodorize your armpits, but here's the next best thing – simply make a powder by mixing baking soda and corn starch in equal amount, and then rub it lightly on your armpits.
8. Stinky Shoes
You run regularly and hit the gym on a regular basis. That's great, but being active will take a toll on your shoes. Yes, it will take them some time to wear out, but they may have already started smelling bad. Simply place dryer sheets in your shoes and leave them overnight. Alternatively, fill nylon tights with baking soda and insert them in your shoes to rid of icky smell.
9. Smelly Bath Towels
It is true that you can find several powerful chemicals to wash your clothes and make them smell great, but it doesn't have to be that expensive actually. You can fix your smelly bath towels simply by pouring a couple of cups of white vinegar in your washer before putting all the towels in it. After washing, hang your towel in open air to dry.
