1. Get a Tree

What is Christmas without a tree? Whether it’s a real or fake, a Christmas tree is one of the most perfect ways to decorate your dorm room for Christmas. You can even get creative and make your own tree out of cardboard, books, beer cans, or basically anything you want. And don’t forget to decorate! If you have roommates or suite mates who celebrate the holiday, get them involved as well.

2. Light It up

And what is a Christmas tree without lights? String some lights around your tree to decorate. Or string them around your entire dorm room. You can even spell out festive words in lights for some extra flair. Choose colors you like, then you can leave them up all semester for decor that's unique and creative.

3. Color Scheme

No matter what you decorate your dorm room with for Christmas, make sure you have a color scheme. Most people would go with the traditional red and green, but don’t be afraid to mix it up a bit. Try using different shades of red and green for a twist on a Christmas tradition. Neon shades like pink and green are really popular right now too. Just do you.

4. Mistletoe

Mistletoe might be my one of my favorite parts of Christmas. An excuse to kiss a cute boy, count me in. Place mistletoe over your door as a fun and flirty way to welcome your friends when they come in. Make sure to kiss everyone! Even a peck on the cheek is fun and festive at Christmas.

5. Wrap It up

What better way to decorate your dorm room for Christmas than with presents! Frame different Christmas themed wrapping paper for a wall decoration. Or put small boxes wrapped in paper around your bed. If you're getting gifts for school friends, invite them to your room before or even after break.

6. Smell It in the Air

Candles are the perfect decoration because not only do they look amazing, they smell amazing too. Pick several Christmas scented candles, like peppermint, sugar cookies, or pine needles. Then scatter them across your dorm room for some great smelling Christmas decorations

7. Blast Some Music

Okay so it’s not exactly a dorm room decoration, but Christmas music puts you in such a festive mood. If it is while you are decorating, while you re studying, or even hanging out with friends, Christmas music is the perfect choice. Mix it up by including old holiday favorites as well as new renditions. Ask your friends and roommates what they would like to hear too.
