1. Dippy Designs…

Did you notice that the catwalk featured an awful lot of paint-splashed furniture? From chairs to tables and backdrops, it looked like an artist had gone mad with a paintbrush – but it’s actually one of the biggest 2013 decorating trends. There’s a variety of shop-bought items available, from crazy splashes to careful, neutral takes on the trend, and it’s not a hard look to achieve yourself either. Just apply painters tape to a table or chair, and paint a portion a different color. It even looks great on flower pots!

2. Bright and Bold…

Bright colors invaded the world of fashion last year, and this year they’ll be fighting for centre-stage in your home too. It’s all about letting the brightest colors do the talking, so get shopping and brighten up your rooms with carefully placed pops of color. To choose a color that’ll blend effortlessly with 2013’s other trends, opt for citrus shades, ocean hues, dusky greys and smoky charcoal.

3. Golden Glory…

Looking to give your dining room a boost? Check out golden accessories. From gold-printed glassware to shiny gold cutlery, golden napkins and plates featuring golden patterns, it’ll be the leading color at restaurants and diners around the world – and it’s no wonder why, with gold giving the impression of quality and excellent food. Need inspiration? Check out some of the amazing gold collections on Pinterest.

4. Emerald…

Pantone were the first to jump on the emerald bandwagon, with their experts proclaiming it the color of the year. It’s a versatile color that has hints of royalty and sophistication, and it blends effortlessly with neutrals and monochromes. For a subtle look, opt for an emerald cushion case or vase – or go all out by mixing emerald with other brights to create an exotic, exciting decor.

"Finding creativity in every aspect of life, women constantly seek out new outlets for their talents. Among one such talent is the gift for preserving memories in an innovative, artistic way. 5. Child’s Play…

Patterns this year are moving away from perfectly balanced geometrics, and becoming more playful and free. Whimsical paint stripes in candy colors are ideal for accessories such as cushion cases, lamps and vases, and add a splash of color to any furniture. There’s plenty of DIY sets that will let you create your own inspiring designs, or simply browse around to find a designer who catches your eye.

6. Animal Instinct…

The animal print look is going nowhere in 2013. It’s still big on maxi dresses, safari-style pants and jackets, and the more subtle prints lend themselves perfectly to your decor too. Check out animal print rugs, pillows and headboards, as well as framed artwork that features animals such as zebras, antelopes or lions. You can even rework some of your old clothes into one-of-a-kind pillows!

7. Pink and Red…

Thinking of redecorating your bedroom or living area? This is the year to do it, with bright shades like hot pink and bright red dominating the shelves. From bold separates to striped wallpaper and eye-catching accessories, it’s easier than ever to create a feminine, timeless color scheme. Keep it toned down by adding white furniture and accessories, such as French-inspired white mirrors.

So which of these 2013 decorating trends will you be checking out? It seems we’ve moved away from the nautical inspirations of last season, and I’m loving that bold colors continue despite orange becoming less popular. I can’t wait to get browsing some home stores! What trend would you love to see make it big in 2013? Let me know!
