You should never underestimate just how much a good looking home can make you feel better both in body and mind. Your home is basically an extension of yourself, so when it is looking and feeling good, so will you be too. The thing is though, not all of us have the time to spend on big renovations or extensive spring cleans, so we have to come up with ways to be more savvy and succinct with our efforts! Just because you are pushed for time and super busy, it doesn’t mean that you can’t make a positive difference. Here are five simple tricks to make your home look better in 10 minutes.
If you see a desk or a room that is particularly cluttered, then take ten minutes to blitz it really quickly, getting rid of the rubbish and putting things back in drawers. You will be amazed at just how much better a room can look in ten simple minutes.
2. Remove Something
If a room looks too busy, it can seem messy even if you have just cleaned it. Look at your busy room and commit to taking one thing out of it; it might be a chair, a desk, a cupboard, just something that you don’t think is completely necessary to the décor. When you see that extra space, you will feel much better and it will look much more appealing too.
3. Move Furniture
Try not to have all of your furniture so close together. If it has room to breathe then the entire place looks bigger, fresher and just overall more appealing. If you have a sofa and an armchair, don’t squish them together in the same spot. Have one on one side of the room, and the other as far away as possible to create dimension and balance.
Flowers are an amazing addition to any room, there is just something about bringing nature in to a living space that makes it much more homely and pleasing. The great thing about flowers is that there are so many different types that you are always going to find species and colours that work with your décor. If not flowers, introduce pot plants.
5. Diagonal Positioning
Experiment with placing pieces of furniture on an angle rather than straight on. It sounds too simple to be effective, but something like a coffee table off at an angle from the sofa can really make a big difference in terms of vibe and atmosphere!
