Christian Louboutin-Inspired

Christian Louboutin-Inspired For this DIY sandal makeover, you will be copying the style of pricey Christian Louboutin shoes. The petal pair that will cost you an arm and a leg, to be exact. If you go the DIY route, however, you will spend only for the sheer fabric, black ribbon, and the Velcro strips. Very cool, yes?

Patterned Wedges

Patterned Wedges These look retro-tastic, don't they? The best part: they're so easy to do! For this project, you will simply cover the wedge part of an old pair of shoes with fabric. You do this by gluing the fabric (with pretty prints, of course) onto the wedges, cutting the excess, and then covering everything with Mod Podge.

Tribal Wrap

Tribal Wrap This DIY sandal makeover will cost you $20 or less. In fact, if you no longer need to buy a new pair of sandals, you will need only yarn for this project. What you do is wrap the front straps of your sandals with yarn, making sure that you follow a tribal-themed color scheme. And that's basically it.

Bejeweled

Bejeweled These bejeweled sandals are lovely and will look perfect paired with your summer maxi dresses. To give an old pair of sandals the bejeweled treatment, spray the straps with silver paint, attach jewels using E6000, and let dry.

Gold and Silver

Gold and Silver These H&M sandals are pretty popular for shoe makeovers, aren't they? If you have a pair, make them extra fabulous by covering the front straps with glitter. Not just any glitter, though; mix gold and silver together! To seal your “new” sandals, you can apply a layer of clear nail polish on top of the glitter or use clear spray.

Gladiator Wrap

Gladiator Wrap How pretty! And oh-so-perfect for traipsing by the pool. For this project, you will simply be wrapping the straps of flip flops with a scarf. The extra fabric is for wearing your “new” pair of summer sandals like gladiators. Not only is this very easy to do, you also have endless of possibilities as far as looks go. Just think of the many wonderful prints that you can use for this DIY sandal makeover!

Stencil Doily

Stencil Doily This is my favorite among these handmade shoe makeovers. Why? Because yellow is always cute and I love doily details on just about anything. This makeover was achieved by cutting a decorative edge punch and using it as a stencil. Very easy, right? Make sure that you use a tiny brush for this project.

Ankle Chains

Ankle Chains There is nothing like hardware to give your look an edgy vibe. For this project, you will be replacing the ankle straps of an old pair of sandals with chains. You will need chain, jump rings, and lobster clasps for this DIY idea. For your tools, pliers are essential.

X-Strap

X-Strap Aren't these cute? The tutorial below shows you a way to make a pair of X-strap sandals out of flip flops. For embellishment, these golden arrows look fabulous but you can add your own DIY flair, too. Instead of arrows, you can go for rhinestones, a line of geometric shapes, or feather shapes made of leather.

I don't know about you but these have made me look at my old pair of sandals with a new light. I might give the doily one a try. The arrow idea is very cute (and trendy!), too. Which of these DIY ideas tickled your fancy?
