One of my favorite blogs for refashioning clothes is this one, from the very creative Jillian. She can take an awful outdated dress, and rework it into a gorgeous little number that looks so different from the original you'd never believe it was related in any way! Jillian includes lots of photos to show how she remade the piece, and others of her cute little dog.

Thrift stores in the UK are known as charity shops, and there are a lot of them. Naturally some of the contents are pretty horrifying clothes that you wouldn't be seen dead in! Charity Shop Chic is written by a blogger who also excels in transforming a garment into something totally different. There are loads of photos, and plenty of inspiration to be found.

The refashions on this blog tend towards the more conservative side, so are ideal if you want a more conventional style, such as for work. An incredibly useful aspect of the blog is the inclusion of a section on ยดHow to refashion'. There are some brilliant practical tips on how to go about refashioning a garment, as well as how to get ideas for what to make.

4. Recycled Fashion

The interesting aspect of this blog - aside from the refashions - are that it includes lots of posts on other aspects of refashioning. The blog also covers projects that are based around recycling and repurposing fabric. This makes it a good blog to read if you are not keen on sewing yourself but are interested in buying clothes made from recycled fabrics.

The Refashion Co-op is just what it says - a blog with many different contributors. It's an ideal blog to follow if you like a lot of new content, as with so many contributors new posts are frequently added. If you love what one of the bloggers has made, you can click on their name at the side, and view their other posts.

Some blogs deserve to be mentioned for their clever names. 'The Wardrobe Surgeon' is a great name for refashioning - after all, you take old pieces, cut them up and put them back together again! I particularly liked the Sixties-style dress made from a vintage sheet, which shows how fabulous clothes can be created from non-dress fabrics.

7. Awesomesauce & Asshattery

A very quirky blog name to go with its quirky owner! The refashions are delightfully eccentric and creative as well. This blog has simply tons of tutorials to show you how to create your own refashioned clothes, jewellery and accessories. There's even recipes if you fancy 'refashioning' some ingredients into something new! Plus you can check out Sheri's e-books.

Refashioning is a great way of revitalising your wardrobe and honing your sewing skills. You can also pick up bargains at thrift stores and remake them into awesome new clothes. The bonus is that you will end up with brand new clothes that nobody else will be wearing! What is your absolute favorite item of clothing, and why?
